In response to Daily Post’s writing post “Abandoned“.
When someone let me down,
they usually did it carefully.
They held my hands tight,
and said, “Be careful,”
before they let my hands go,
and let me drop.
And down I would drop,
Into the realm of sadness,
for only a few seconds,
and then I found somebody else,
who dropped me down, too.
That’s just sad. I’ve often felt, in such circumstances, that abandonment was a release and that their actions were liberating and then, later, castigating myself for not abandoning them instead of, with apologies to the horse, flogging a dead horse

I totally agree with you. But, whenever I think about liberation, I get abandoned by somebody who I didn’t want to be liberated by. 🙂
