Memorial Day vs. Veterans Day What’s the Difference?

“The more we sweat in peace the less we bleed in war.”

Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit

Memorial Day became a holiday in the year of 1971 by Congress, after World War 1. It was originally called Decoration Day and it honors those who have died for us. Why decoration? Decoration Day was supposed to be a time when the United States decorated the graves of the dead veterans. Veterans day became a holiday on November 11 in 1938. Veterans Day used to be called Armistice Day. After World War II and the Korean War, it was changed to Veterans day, which honors the American veterans who risked their lives for our safety.

Happy Memorial Day!
